GeoField Book GeoField Book is an ESRI ArcMap extension which facilitates the collection of data in the field. Georeferenced maps and orthophotos can be loaded into ArcMap and a GPS link provides constant updating of the user's location. Icons pointing to voice recordings, photographs, text, and other items can be embedded in the maps and accessed later by clicking on the icon. Photographs of geological outcrops or man made features can be loaded into ArcMap and notation and shapefiles created to describe the objects in the photographs. For example, bedding or faults can be traced on the photos as polylines. Measurments of Strike-Dip or Trend-Plunge can be entered in the attribute tables of point shapefiles associated with the photograph. Icons can be embedded in the photographs linked to voice recordings or text. |
